Market Research Analyst

Locations: Washington, D.C. 

Position Summary

The Market Research Analyst supports the executive leadership team and product management in the analysis of nonprofit and political markets, competitive solutions, and customer engagement information. You will be a key contributor in developing actionable insights and drive strategic and tactical decisions around go-to-market timing, sales value propositions, and opportunities for differentiation.The main function of this position is to work as part of our product team and perform market research and business analysis for the following core product areas fundraising, digital marketing, organizing, and compliance.  A successful candidate should be a confident communicator, excellent facilitators, precise analyzers, and team player; working closely with different departmental staff (executives, sales, marketing, product, engineering, creative) and has the versatility of various business functions, such as finance, product design, engineering, technology or data architecture. This position reports directly to the SVP, Product.

What you’ll be doing 

  • Develop and manage a framework for assessing market and competitor analysis including target market size, risks, trends, and growth opportunities
  • Build and present quantified models of addressable market segments, including monetization potential such as pricing models (new sales, upsell, cross-sell) and return on investments
  • Conduct gap analysis to explore current functionality and identify differentiators across competing fundraising, organizing, and digital marketing products
  • Conduct stakeholder and user interviews; and compile analysis of customer feedback via various means (e.g., Product Reviews, Analytics, User Forums, etc.) to support improve our product platform
  • Facilitate discussions, decision making, and conflict resolution across departments and projects stakeholders
  • Assist with internal and external communication, improving project transparency and cohesion across company-wide goals

What Skills You'll Need

  • Able to analyze complex situations and problems and do the necessary research using multiple sources of information to arrive at innovative and cost-effective solutions
  • Experience with selecting, managing, deploying, and/or supporting enterprise CRMs, fundraising, and marketing products
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Able to generate creative, simple solutions to complex problems and understand complex details
  • Able to exercise good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Highly self-motivated, disciplined, and extremely detail oriented

Bonus Points

  • 2+ years of experience as a Market Research Analyst, Business Analyst or Product Director
  • Advanced degree or MBA in the following concentration areas Nonprofit Management, Entrepreneurship, Business Intelligence, Technology
  • Experience evaluating and assessing merger and acquisition opportunities
  • Comfortable interacting with system architects and developers to ensure cost and implementation efficiency 
  • Experience with APIs, digital marketing and mobile applications
  • Experience with related products such as Salesforce, Blackbaud CRM, RENXT, Engaging Networks, Pardot, etc. 
  • Basic knowledge of SQL to run queries and analyze user data
