Vice President, Data Services

NGP VAN / EveryAction is hiring a Vice President of Data Services to lead a team of data engineers in a fast-paced, growing organization focused on delivering best-of-breed software to nonprofit clients. This role is vital to successful engagement and implementation for our expanding client base, specifically with nonprofits of all sizes.

A successful candidate will have a proven track record of conversion, migration and integration work with a broad range of online and offline data, preferably with experience spanning fundraising and digital realms. The ideal candidate will be fluent in the particular needs of the nonprofit market, with the ability to understand the worlds of client programs, CRM, and onboarding. This person will work closely with our other Account Management, Client Support, Sales, and Product Engineering teams specifically on how to best convert, migrate, and integrate data to support new clients adopting our platforms.  As the head of the department, this person will also be responsible in the areas of data strategy, implementation and tactics, forecasts, budgets, projections, and performance.

The Vice President of Data Services has many responsibilities – including program, operations and people manager, resource analyst, process driver and subject matter expert on data management and solutions – but your primary focus will be working with a team of 15 data engineers and architects to deliver positive data migration and onboarding experience for our clients as they launch on our product(s). This is an essential role in helping the company scale with our clients while creating processes to gain efficiencies and establish best practices.

You should be someone who has:

  • Strong technical background in data and solutions architecture.
  • Record of success supporting a fast-paced business organization, providing technical expertise and solutions experience.
  • Excellent ability to manage client relationships, especially through sensitive data issues, and to solve problems effectively.
  • Has a customer-first mentality, including the ability to work with clients on tight deadlines and help clients prioritize.  
  • Experience with nonprofit data practices, specifically fundraising and/or digital.
  • Ability to influence across teams, communicating technical concepts clearly and effectively, and demonstrating their value as part of our business and the customer experience
  • Prior experience managing a team responsible for delivering on multiple concurrent projects.

Your skills and experience might include:

  • 8+ years’ experience in data management and/or implementation services.
  • 3+ years of experience with SaaS CRM platforms and custom-built cloud applications.
  • 2+ years’ experience managing a technical team of all levels, including coaching and developing talent.

The most successful candidates will have:

  • Experience with fundraising nonprofits and/or political CRM products.
  • Experience with budgets, sales pricing structures, market-driven organizations, and/or running a revenue-neutral services function focused on timely client delivery. 
  • Understanding of good SQL software design practices. Analytics and reporting experience is a huge plus.
  • Experience with relational databases and data management best practices.
