Payroll and Benefits Administrator

Do you have a keen eye to detail, derive satisfaction from keeping track of details and creating efficient processes, and find joy in providing excellent benefits support to company employees?  EveryAction is looking for a sharp and reliable Payroll and Benefits Administrator.  As the Payroll and Benefits Administrator, you will process a semi-monthly payroll, ensure a smooth onboarding process for all new hires, and interface with folks across the company on benefits and payroll.  Our benefits play an important part in our employee retention and so this role is crucial to our company culture. 

We are a successful, growing company of 350 staff members with offices in Washington, DC and Boston, MA.  This position would be in our DC office and report to the HR & Operations Director.  Currently, the entire company is working remote for the duration of the Covid-19 Pandemic with regular updates being provided to staff.

What Your Day Will Look Like:

Payroll

  • Process payroll for hourly, salaried, and temporary employees; including reviewing and importing hours from time and attendance system, entering tax and direct deposit information, administering regulatory requirements, e.g., garnishments, tax levies, and support orders, and other adjustments to pay as necessary.
  • Implement and maintain payroll best practices to improve efficiency and consult with human resources team to improve payroll and HRIS processes.
  • Maintain employee records in payroll/HRIS systems.
  • Produces scheduled and ad-hoc reports pertaining to payroll and human resources requirements.
  • Manage new state tax registrations as needed and file annual reports.

Benefits

  • Administer all employee benefit programs including employee enrollments, terminations, and changes.
  • Respond to employee queries regarding the benefits portfolio.
  • Fulfill all governmental regulatory mandates and ensures filings are performed as required.
  • Work with Operations Manager on audits and other annual reports as needed.
  • Oversee day to day administration on 401(k) plan.

 

What you bring to the table:

  • 3+ years processing payroll and benefits
  • Experience running payroll for over 500 employees.
  • Experience managing a diverse benefits portfolio including Health, Vision, Dental, Disability and more
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to staff when assisting with questions.
  • Competent in creating and managing census reports for benefits and payroll.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience
  • Hands on experience with Paycom or other HRIS services.
  • In depth knowledge of health care plan options.
  • Bonus for experience with establishing systems and processes.
