Software Engineer, Security (Washington, DC)

In this position, you will focus your efforts on enhancing the security of our applications, and the privacy of our users, against all threats.

We are looking for a software engineer who can perform hands-on work identifying and fixing security-related issues, as well as become a resource for the rest of our engineering team.

What you'll be doing

  • Research and apply proper security techniques across our applications
  • Review, architect, and/or “own” security critical functionality such as authentication and encryption
  • Code review changes related to security critical functionality
  • Improve overall application security through framework level hardening
  • Proactively find insecure portions of the application and fix vulnerabilities

What we're looking for

  • Knowledge of common web application vulnerabilities, how to identify, and fix them
  • Ability to explain and apply cryptographic techniques, such as encryption and hashing
  • Strong ability to critically review code and communicate required changes

Nice to haves

  • Experience with static code analysis tools to identify vulnerabilities
  • Previous experience with offensive application security testing or penetration testing
  • Familiarity with some industry standards, such as ISO 2700x, GDPR, NIST & PCI
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft stack (ASP.NET, C#, SQL Server, Azure)
