IT Support Technician II

NGP VAN is seeking a IT Support Technician II who will provide end-user support, build new systems, develop and update systems documentation, and collaborate with our distributed IT team.

Candidates will also plan, implement and maintain hardware and software in support of our internal office environment.

Like most IT teams, we handle a mixture of break/fix and project work. This position will focus on end-user support, but we have a pretty technical staff. So we expect the IT Support Technician II to spend about 75% of their time on end-user support, and about 25% on projects.

Candidates should have the ability to research, recommend, plan and deploy systems, solve problems independently, and work well on cross-functional teams.

All work will be internal and their will be no client-facing interactions.

Requirements:

End-user technical support experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Windows Desktop and Server operating systems
  • Experience with Active Directory and/or Azure AD
  • Experience with Mac OS, Apple hardware, and other Apple products
  • Experiencing supporting desktop and laptop computers
  • Understanding of IP networking fundamentals
    • IP addresses, networks, subnet masks, major protocols, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Desired but not Essential:

  • Familiarity with political campaigns and issue advocacy organizations
  • Experience with: 
    • Jira and Confluence
    • VMWare server virtualization products
    • Source control, change management and ticket-tracking systems
    • Scripting languages (PowerShell, Windows batch file, VBScript, AppleScript, Bash, Perl, etc).
    • Corporate phone systems
    • Deployment Tools (MDT, SCCM, other imaging software)
  • Understanding of enterprise IT operations concepts, including Configuration Management, Redundancy, Security, Monitoring, Logging, Risk, Performance, Automation

Note: This is a full-time position located in our Somerville office. Candidates should be able to lift 50 lbs. Occasional off-hours (nights and weekends) work will be required.
