Migration Specialist

As a member of our migrations team, you will help clients upgrade to NGP VAN’s latest platforms: NGP 8 and EveryAction 8. The Migration Specialist will work with the Client Migration Manager to review migration requests, demonstrate the product, coordinate schedules, and help our clients be strong users of their tools.

This position requires a knowledge of political and non-profit fundraising practices, as well as their respective tool-sets and needs. A Migration Specialist has stellar communication skills and is creative in helping clients solve problems and accomplish their daily tasks.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Conduct demos, trainings and support for political and nonprofit clients.
  • Understand and assist with the migration of client data, edits to client data, and completing timely reconciliation to ensure data integrity.
  • Help coordinate schedules between clients and NGP VAN resources. 
  • Conduct regular check-ins with clients using the new platform, handling key aspects of their support and training.
  • Use judgment and discretion to recommend changes that result in increased efficiency to the migration process.
  • Coordinate and assist in the production of client-facing documentation and help videos.

What You’re Good At

  • You have a demonstrated and passionate interest in Democratic and progressive politics and ideals, are good with technology, and are willing to work with lots of different organizations who need our help.
  • Familiarity with multiple NGP VAN products, such as NGP 7, Classic NGP, EveryAction 7, and VAN.
  • You have experience working with compliance, fundraising, and/or email tools, for political campaigns, unions or nonprofits.
  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong critical thinking, logical problem-solving ability, and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data for migration reconciliation.
  • Able to prioritize with minimal guidance and hit deadlines.
  • Detail oriented with proven ability to deal with ambiguity and work effectively in situations involving uncertainty or lack of information.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bonus Points
  • Experience with SQL or desire to learn SQL.
  • Previous experience teaching or training, including activities such as mentoring, tutoring and/or software support.
  • Experience in customer relations or an equivalent field, though not required, is valued.
