Technical Product Manager

Position Summary

Are you looking to build a career in SaaS or DaaS, working with world class architects in a high growth progressive company?  As the Technical Product Manager, you will oversee product life cycle management for data products.  You will guide important projects from creation through execution.  You will be in the unique position of having multiple teams to lead and collaborate with to ensure that our products are reliable and safe.

Responsibilities

  • We are looking for a product owner for Pipeline Cloud and related data pipeline and replicated database solutions.  In this role you will own data dictionaries, own the product roadmap, use API documentation, perform technical research, manage vendors, and oversee access authorization.   You will architect solutions across the platform for partners and logo clients.
  • You will work closely with Security, Data, IT, DevOps and Engineering on large-scale data maturity and infrastructure projects.
  • You will support the Data Science and Enterprise Reporting Warehouse teams as needed.

What you’ll be doing and ideally be good at

  • This position has no direct reports but carries a great deal of influence by building and fostering trust among team members, customers and stakeholders.  
  • You fall in love with problems.  When you meet a new problem, your curiosity inspires you to do in-depth research into how competitors solve it, by talking to current and prospective customers about how they are solving it today (or to determine if they’re even aware it exists), by assembling the best team (Data, IT, DevOps, and Engineering) to ideate on the best solution(s), by doing usability testing to validate that the solution is right, and by advocating for the solution that will most excite our current and future customers.
  • Closely collaborate with product leadership to update and groom the product backlog. This work involves ensuring backlog items are correctly prioritized, organized, and are accurate to ensure team efficiency.
  • Identify and negotiate minimum viable product solutions that will provide the highest value to current and prospective customers.
  • Support team members in whatever task or role necessary to help deliver team commitments, solve problems or resolve impediments to keep the project on track. 
  • Be a positive voice and evangelist for our company products, services and tools.
  • Be comfortable translating domain knowledge, client goals and customer needs into effective user stories. 
  • Excel at clearly defining the who, what, why (value statement to our user) and requirements that have clear, testable acceptance criteria. 
  • Recognize and manage problems when they arise, solve them quickly and efficiently. You understand the need to compromise and understand tradeoffs to keep progress moving.
  • Be a master prioritizer, who can organize and understand a wide variety of projects and demands; set a vision and communicate chosen priorities to a team.
  • Strong emotional intelligence to build consensus and influence decisions  

Actual Minimum Requirements

  • Demonstrated 3+ years as a successful Product Manager and self-guided leadership in a specific product domain area, or an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated SQL skills and general database knowledge.
  • Proactively problem solves and recommends options to ensure success of projects.
  • Own and define roadmap vision for a specific domain area of the product and hold themselves accountable for measurable results.
  • Capable of effectively managing up and across different departments and team members; manage positive impact over conflicts.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in databases or technology including but not limited to:
    • SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, AWS Redshift/Aurora/PostgreSQL, Google Cloud SQL any database
    • Azure Active Directory
    • PowerBI or Tableau
    • Github for version control
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner or ScrumMaster.
  • Experience working with a Scrum team or agile development shop.
  • Previous experience working in nonprofit fundraising – either at an organization, a vendor, or a consulting firm.
